I was born in Lovere (BG) in 1997. I completed both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Engineering at the University of Brescia, graduating in 2020 and 2023, respectively.
Before starting my PhD, I undertook a two-year research fellowship during which I investigated how Digital Twins can promote sustainability within the Smart Home context. Throughout this experience, I developed a strong interest in Human–AI interaction, particularly in understanding how AI agents can calibrate and influence users’ trust in and reliance on intelligent systems.
RESEARCH FIELD
My research project investigates how to enhance Human–AI interaction in Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) environment by combining End-User Development (EUD) and human-centered Explainable AI (XAI). The objective is to empower users to personalize AAL systems, while maintaining transparency, trust, and control over AI-driven behaviors. The research adopts a user-centered methodology grounded in Human–Computer Interaction where a working Digital Twin is enriched with AI-driven suggestions and tailored explanation strategies that help users calibrate their relationship with the XAI application. The ultimate goal of the research project is to define actionable design guidelines for building trustworthy, explainable, and user-centered AI systems in sensitive care contexts.
